ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling, which aims to train competent psychological counselors who help individuals with developmental and adaptation problems and support them to improve their well-being and decision-making skills, was established in 2023 within the Faculty of Education, established by law No. 4617 dated January 10, 2001, published in the Official Gazette No. 24289. There are 6 teaching staff, including 2 associate professors, 3 medical faculty members, and 1 research assistant, who are working as a staff member in the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling. The student recruitment of the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling has started in the 2022-2023 academic year. The education and training period of the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling is four years. The student quota of the program is 40. In the program, a 4-year undergraduate education is provided for students to grasp the knowledge and skills that are weighted by field education. The program includes required courses, teaching professional knowledge, general culture, and practice courses. In addition, students can also take elective courses according to their own interests. Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to receive a “Bachelor of Science” in the field of Guidance and Psychological Counseling. Graduates of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Undergraduate program with the title of School Psychological Counselor or with the title of staff to be given by the employing institution (for example; Psychological Counselor, Human Resources Specialist, Pedagogue, Education Specialist, etc.) and they can work in sectors such as education, justice, health and industry.
